Not a pleasant and satisfying read, I'm afraid. I might have been more forgiving of its major flaws if it weren't for that ending, with its unfortunate implications. Recommended only if you're looking to read every example of classic children's literature ever. Don't expect much here.

Told in multiple POV, both in 1st and 3rd person. It’s a stand-alone novel. All in all, I enjoyed it and hope you like it as well. In 1989, film and stage director Ingmar Bergman staged and published a shortened reworking of the play, now entitled Nora, which entirely omitted the characters of the servants and the children, focusing more on the power struggle between Nora and Torvald. It was widely viewed as downplaying the feminist themes of Ibsen's original. [69] The first staging of it in New York was reviewed by the Times as heightening the play's melodramatic aspects. [70] The Los Angeles Times stated that " Nora shores up A Doll's House in some areas but weakens it in others." [71] McFarlane, James (1994). Cambridge Companion to Ibsen. Cambridge University Press. p.167. ISBN 9780521423212. OCLC 869601716.Krogstad leaves, and Nora and Torvald return from the ball. Mrs. Linde urges Nora to tell her husband the truth, and then she leaves as well. Torvald tells Nora how much he desires her, but Nora stubbornly resists his advances. Dr. Rank arrives and talks happily about how much he enjoyed the party, especially the wine. He leaves and Torvald discovers two visiting cards that Dr. Rank put in his letterbox, indicating that he is about to die. Nora says goodnight to Torvald and sneaks out to the hall, preparing to escape and commit suicide. However Torvald stops her, having discovered the letter from Krogstad. He is furious with her, saying she has ruined his life and that, although they will keep living together to preserve appearances, they cannot be happy and he won’t let her raise their children.

Forget ever thinking of building sandcastles on the beach or paddling by the waters edge happily with your family. Nope, after reading of the finding of a human being buried deep in the sand, the beach does not seem like such a great place to visit. Dr. Rank, the family friend, arrives. Nora asks him for a favor, but Rank responds by revealing that he has entered the terminal stage of his disease and that he has always been secretly in love with her. Nora tries to deny the first revelation and make light of it but is more disturbed by his declaration of love. She then clumsily attempts to tell him that she is not in love with him, but loves him dearly as a friend. Mottram, James (9 June 2016). "Sir Ben Kingsley interview". Independent. A DOLL’S HOUSE

Kristine Linde (sometimes spelled Christine in English translations) – Nora's old school friend, widowed, is seeking employment. She was in a relationship with Krogstad prior to the play's setting.

In 2016, there were plans for a modernized adaptation starring Ben Kingsley as Doctor Rank and Michele Martin as Nora. [65] [66] Kiley, Brendan (5 May 2017). " 'Cherdonna's Doll's House' is an absurd and poignant satire of femininity". The Seattle Times. The Seattle Times . Retrieved 4 January 2021. Anne Marie – Nora's former nanny, who gave up her own daughter to "strangers" when she became, as she says, the only mother Nora knew. She now cares for Nora's children. [8] All the strands resolve themselves neatly, it’s a real slow burner with a different element rising temporary to the forefront of the story. If you have little girls who adore dolls and doll houses and setting up house for their dolls, they will relish this sweet little tale! Somethings have shifted here within the team we love and we don’t see as much from Helen in this one. There is a bit of difference in the dynamics here with the team and our guard went up when we start to see Helen butting heads with DI Harwood. We do see a new side to Helen that had us loving Helen even more as she struggles to find the balance between her job and her personal life. We also grew to love another character even more in this story. Well, this story is about two sisters, Ashley and Corinne. When they were children, their father bought them a doll house with all the toys. Their father is dead for a year now, Ashley is married and have three kids and she struggles with them. She is tired, her husband is absent most of the time and he claims it’s because of his job and Ashley receives strange phone calls. Her sister, Corinne, lives with her boyfriend. She receives some of the toys from their doll house but when she asked her mother where is the doll house, she can’t find it!!
