Sony MDR RF995: You get a more affordable pair of RF headphones with Sony’s entry into the at-home wireless headphone space, but you won’t get quite as high-quality connectivity.

The RS 175 and the RS 185 are identical in battery performance. Both can run up to 18 hours per charge, making them suitable for movie and TV series marathons, and take around 8.5 hours to fully charge. Their charging times are much longer compared to regular Bluetooth headphones, which usually take around two to three hours to fully charge.

My first pair were RS 65's, which were luxuriously comfortable with felt earpads but used too small button style batteries in an enclosed case that were difficult to replace. With a young baby at the time though, it was the only way I could indulge in my love of movies on a nightly basis on my projector setup and not drive my wife to contemplate murder/suicide.

Both models have similar features like wireless connectivity with a 100m transmission range, supports analog and digital input, can connect two headphones at a time, and has an 18 hours battery life. But it doesn’t mean you can run away from your home and go to the next house to see if it works perfectly. Keep the range in mind and stay within your limit. The sound stage of 175 RF Sennheiser is impressive. When you watch movies wearing headphones, it feels like the scene is happening in front of you.

The build quality of RS 175 is decently strong. The headband is made with a thin metal frame and is moderately flexible. And if you are a hardcore audiophile, you should not buy this as it won’t meet the standard or need you are looking for. Although their treble is not as good as that of the RS 175 and can be too sharp sometimes, many people will agree that the RS 185 are the better-sounding headphones overall. If you want a more immersive experience when watching movies and gaming, with a much less overpowering bass, they are the better option. Isolation You can enjoy the audio wirelessly by lying on your bed, and no need to get up from your spot to control the system either. Like I alluded to before, the digital transmission also improves the sound quality, and this is pushed even further with the utilisation of both “Bass Boost” and “Surround Sound Listening Modes”. The Bass Boost of course improves bass response and overall bass accuracy, with the surround sound modes giving you greatly improved spatial and lively audio.Compared to the RS 175, they are made of higher-quality materials, which is easy to see if you place the two headphones side by side for comparison. Their plastic parts look and feel less cheap than that of the RS 175 while their earpads have a better cover material. Furthermore, their headband is covered with artificial leather for a more premium look, unlike the RS 175 which have a purely plastic headband exterior. This system allows two people to listen to the same program individually with two headphones simultaneously. Located on the right ear cup, the RS 175 have separate buttons for activating the bass boost and the virtual surround sound, along with volume buttons and a power button that also serves as a mute button. Meanwhile, the on-cup controls of the RS 185, which are similarly found on the right ear cup, are composed of volume buttons, balance buttons, and a level control button, along with the same dual-function power button seen on the RS 175.
