THE DISTILLERY – Boatyard is an award-wining distillery located inside an old boatyard on the banks of Lough Erne in the North West of Ireland. The collected spirit has pure water added to it before resting for a minimum of 2 weeks before we bottle and label. Only the best organic ingredients are used at The Boatyard Distillery, and where possible only local ingredients are selected. The smooth and refined nature of Boatyard Old Tom Gin makes it a perfect choice for classic cocktails like the Tom Collins or Martinez, allowing the flavours to shine through. The ‘double’ in Boatyard Double Gin refers to their distillation process and a purist’s approach of placing juniper at both the start and end of the process. The driver will input your year of birth into their device and may then require an ID check to complete the age verification process. I have to confess that this offering does hold its head up high, as it has a distinctive flavour without being gauche or "in-your-face".

I started making my own Sloe Gin some forty-plus years ago and took great pride in the preparation and pricking of the berries, selection of my gin, and the right amount of sugar. Most folk seldom have the self-control to wait very long before succumbing to the temptation to sample their efforts. Fermanagh, Ireland, made by steeping wild-grown, handpicked sloe berries for six months in a bespoke gin.

A CLASSIC STYLE GIN - The ‘double’ in Boatyard Double Gin refers to the distillation method – where juniper is added at both the start of the process inside the liquid in the still and also at the end of the process after the column. Boatyard Double Gin is an award-winning, certified organic gin, produced in County Fermanagh in North West Ireland.

Palate - "Disciplined framework, with creamy lemon and lime, integrated rose and lavender, with a hint of liquorice, finishing with underlying angelica root, locked in with a little spice and even more mouth-filling citrus. Crafted with meticulous care, this gin draws inspiration from the traditional Old Tom recipe, which dates back to the 18th century. By exposing it to juniper at two separate points in its creation, the distiller can create a gin with a more complex and pronounced juniper flavour. The process is finished by adding a wild Fermanagh honeysuckle syrup which gives a more balanced and natural sweetness.
