Author Elly Griffiths, one of the judges for the Theakston prize, admitted that she hadn’t see them coming. But in 1990, after years of living in fear of her lover Ronnie Cook, Linda finds herself accused of his murder alongside Danny Reece, in a trial that shocks the nation. be read year-round, but there’s something undeniably perfect about cozying up with a great crime novel as the weather gets colder. They all had their own little secrets but it just wasn't enough to have me interested in what happened to any of them.

The types of fundamentalists she describes do exist—in that there are people practicing polygamy and holding to specific beliefs. Diana Jager is clever, strong, and successful, a skilled surgeon and fierce campaigner via her blog about sexism in medicine.ISIS has detonated a massive bomb in the Marais district of Paris, and a desperate French government wants Gabriel to eliminate the man responsible before he can strike again. The story was rolling so slow I was getting bored and almost dnfed it but I've already dnfed three books in this year, so I stopped myself and started reading this book again. What can I say a highly entertaining and well written thriller about love, marriage, abuse and murder.

It’s fascinating trying to work out which narrative is the most reliable as they are all guilty of not necessarily lying but omission and telling the truth as they see it. If you loved the movie Ready or Not or Jessica Knoll’s psychological thriller Luckiest Girl Alive, you’ll love Catherine Steadman’s THE FAMILY GAME. Told in elegant slices, cutting between a court room trial and the events surrounding it, the story’s characters are compelling and the mystery is evoked with scalpel-like precision by the talented Brookmyre. Of course it turns out that each of the wives are keeping secrets from each other, but Blake had also kept secrets from all of them.Brookmyre has always been known for writing mind-twisting novels, and this eye-popping book cements his already solid reputation. If she had her way she'd wear her favorite curve-hugging leopard print dress to Scott's funeral; he loved her in that dress! I’m not sure what the author should have done differently – perhaps it was taking too long to dole out the information?
